Magento speed optimization

Magento is one of the largest ecommerce platforms on the market together with Wordpress and Shopify. It’s an open-source platform designed for scalability, is customizable, SEO-friendly and their 2.0 platform is comparable in speed with Shopify.

The downside of Magento is that it needs quite some specific knowledge, especially when we talk about the server and hosting. The migration from Magento 1.0 to 2.0 creates performance issues quite regularly. If you have custom themes you need development power in order to keep it running smoothly.

If you have Magento performance issues we can help you speed up. You can request a free quickscan via our request page to check your current performance.

How the Magento Speed Optimization works

You will work together with our Magento Performance Specialist according to a predefined roadmap.

What we will do:

  • Set a baseline with a Web Vitals performance scan.
  • Check the technical state of your website.
  • Report on issues based on the scan and check.
  • Identify solutions rated on time vs. impact.
  • Decide on the performance goals and create a roadmap.
  • Implement improvements.
  • Measure the impact of the improvements.

We need…

  • Access to your Google Analytics.
  • Access to your Magento website.
  • Possibly access to your Magento hosting.

What we won’t do:

  • Change anything without permission.
  • Change code in your theme or plugins.

Via our free quickscan we can check the full potential of the performance optimizations and see how much you can gain from our Magento Speed Optimization service.

About Magento Speed Optimization

Our Magento Speed Optimization is a great starting position if you want to speed up significantly and get a better user experience. First, we start with a quick performance scan based on Google’s Web Vitals and your Google Analytics to see how you currently perform. After that we log in your website the current state of your website: what kind of theme you have (standard/ customized/ fully custom) and which plugins you use. We create a report that is tailored to your website where we identify performance issues and come up with clear solutions which are rated on estimated time to implement vs. impact. We will create a performance roadmap where we decide on the next steps. After that we implement the improvements and measure the impact of the improvements by comparing it to the first performance scan.

The Magento Speed Optimization Costs

The costs of the Magento Speed Optimizations depends on the size and current state of the website but also on your performance goals. A Lighthouse improvement from 30/100 to 80/100 is relatively easier than moving from 80/100 to 95/100. In the calculation examples below you can see what you could expect in terms of costs. We can provide you with a quote that is tailored to your specific situation.

Why should you do this?

Magento is a reliable platform and their CMS is easy to use once it’s set up by a developer. However it’s harder to optimize for speed and performance. We can help you to improve your Wordpress site performance and most likely this will impact your:

Reclaim competitive advantage

If your website visitors go away they probably go to your competitors. Get them back!

Lower advertising costs

Good performing websites waste less advertising budget because of a lower bounce rate.

Improve conversion rate

It’s a fact: happy users stay longer on your website, buy more and come back more often.

Improve Google rankings

If you pass Google’s Core Web Vitals you can rank better and get more website visitors.

We will start with a performance scan to set a baseline for the improvements. We use that baseline to compare with the new situation after the performance improvements are implemented. We cannot predict what the actual improvements will be because it depends on your target. It’s relatively easier to go from 30/100 to 90/100 in the Lighthouse performance report than going from 80/100 to 90/100.

Improving the scores shouldn't be the only goal but rather keep the user experience in mind. If your site performs better this means your users will be happier and are likely to convert better. So we will keep an eye on the Lighthouse scoring but this goes hand-in-hand with monitoring your business KPI's.
